well the article was pretty good until the bit you quote, it was a throw away line with no substantive support. If he is referring to the explosion in bureaucrats under this government I would agree. Out in the real world we pay what we need for the quality of staff we require.
I have seen plenty of degree educated people working in call centres before they move on to other things.
But back to his core article, we had "helicopter money", we had/have labour supply constraints, we have ever increasing labour costs due to minimum wages, and a lack of productive or necessary workers, we have global product supply constraints, we have commodity price increases in core fuels due in part to the war and we have ever increase ETS prices. On top of that the government has expanded it unproductive work force and pumped billions into consultants etc.
We have every aspect of inflationary pressure that Keith refers to.

well Robertson remains totally out of touch, as summed up here thebfd.co.nz/2022/05/17/living-in-a-clown-world/in particular just because they have fiddled the numbers to make unemployment look low does not mean there is not a high level of unemployment

yes, unemployment looks low because over the years they've shunted many of them onto; sickness benefits, into training, a few hrs a week jobs etc
that way they haven't shown as 'unemployed'
but in the long term even labour realise they need to get as many as possible paying more in taxes than they get in benefits
hence the odd look by labour of boasting of 'low unemployment' while at the same time 'clamping down on immigration'

And now Oz. Watch Albo really stuff it up and that will be despite their considerable mineral resources. First up the unions will take over followed by severe electricity shortages then a sustained programme to reduce the masses to a state of dependency. Like NZ ! Cosy up to China and the other leftie countries. Look out for all those boat people plus the new boat people. Kiwis fleeing back to NZ except they will fly. Scomo must have really pissed them off and once again he lost the election rather than Labour won it. Imagine Chairman Dan,Chairwoman Anastasia P.(can't spell it) now getting the nod from Canberra .Oz is in for a rocket ride to the bottom

Albo is just like Stalinda, never worked outside the government sector in his life and is surrounded by union hacks.

Thinking of going home fogg ? Heading back there in a month for a visit of the in-laws and extended family . They are all in the high to extremely high income bracket so things are peachy and always have been always will be ….sounds like the lower middle classes over there are really struggling with the cost of living as they are in every other country around the globe right now .

Unlikely to live there again permanently but might spend more time on & off. But currently in India - a good timezone for working between Europe and Asia but a bit less convenient for the US. Probably S Europe is the go…

sounds like the lower middle classes over there are really struggling with the cost of living as they are in every other country around the globe right now . its only going to get worse next winter with UK and European energy prices going through the roof www.nea.org.uk/energy-crisis/ live from Europe brah's! Off to greek islands next week boat buying. Been in Spain 21 days and here's the rub. ... Booze still cheap ( not taxed to heavily yet) Saw my favorite rum , Ron Matuselem reserve, for 12.50€ compared to $80 + in NZ. Buying so much nice Rioja for € 1.99 a bottle. Food still cheap in the towns but dearer in cities. Same with accom... Up about 15-20 % ... But most of this because of price controlling/leveling by booking.com ( wankers) Airplane travel is up about 40-50% but most of this is fuel and because governments have allowed monopolising of countries/ routes... Eg... Iberia air now own Vueling and nostrum and control Spain. Eg 2. ..Aegean air own Europa and control Greece. Then there is the code share bullshit. Ryanair and eastjet are squeezed out to the fringes. FYI. All airlines that service any of the Spanish routes must offer Spanish citizens a 50% discount .. so all the planes are chocker with Spaniards. ... Now only if Donkey chops and RobbingSon where that smart! New car yards are empty Tourism is up 35% on pre covid numbers in all Spanish cities Nobody cares about covid and all is normal. Not many beggers around either. Very safe here NZ is such a cot case Off to bed!

In response to OH comment that nobody cares about covid. We have just returned from Rarotonga. The same applies there. No restrictions and nobody appears to care. Life goes on as normal.
