Why should Bob, Craig, Tony, Trish, Erik, Phillip, some of my friends with some Maori heritage, but mainly European heritage, be entitled to jump the queue for medical treatment over the rest of the population irrespective of need as defined by triage rules? Since you posted this I have done a bit of searching and I can't find anything this granular, is this an interpretation of what will be the result of getting more healthcare to Māori, who currently suffer worse health outcomes than Pakeha due to inequality? Or is this based on something factual? Can you point me to something that substantiates this? |

Don't bring logic and common sense into it all. We just have to stick to the line a small number of Maori are dumb, lazy and need a Nana to get them off their arses to a doctor or Jenny Craig or a dietitian or just a stop smoking place ..... it is what some refer to as 'inequality'.
Also don't forget a very key element to all of this, that being we all have to totally ignore the fact there are some Europeans, some PI, some Aussies and of course the many other indigenous NZers to name only 4 groups of many, who are in exactly the same place. Yet for some reason they apparently aren't suffering any inequality.
I doubt Taika quite realised how 'racist as fuck' NZ would become when he said that some years back. He was totally right then and even more right today.

Easy to identify as a Maori. Did it a few yrs ago,registered under some Maori urban web thing,said I had family in Kawhia(sort of true,Uncle Bill had a maori cleaner/mistress early 1940s) next minute card to say Tainui and registered as a voter on the hauraki role.

Anyone who owns land looses it, effective immediately, they get an automatic lease for the next 25yrs, or until they die, which ever comes first. They cannot hand it down to their children. Companies and Trusts get 25yrs and they are out. Then start paying ground lease to Maori. Because there's no such thing as a "good fucker". Sure, there's lots I know I don't know. And if you've read the thread you'll see that I have asked for information about the claim that Maori could be able to jump the queue for medical treatment. Because I don't know anything about that. I know nothing about Brain Surgery or any surgery for that matter and SFA about Chemistry. I know I don't know the science behind growing a working vegetable garden, no matter how much I try. |

Underprivileged - (thanks for the previous spelling correction). Compared to my standards and the standards I gave my children for me, my personal view, would be anyone who has MANY of the below: didn't grow up with both there parents in there lives Grew up never knowing one parent because they were alienated and heard nothing but bad stories about them went to school without breakfast because there was none Has to worry if food would be on the table when they got home from school didn't have there own room or space from an adolescent age Has to worry if there parent could pay there prepay phone credit for the month Doesnt have easy and regular access to the Internet Didn't get a phone while all their peers had one because parents couldn't afford it Had zero family inheritance to give their family a boost Parents never owned a house and couldn't afford to rent so lived 5 or 6 to a room or out of a car Suffered physical child abuse from a parent or someone they should trust Suffered sexual child abuse from a parent or someone they should trust Had to walk to school in the rain ALL THE TIME cause a parent was NEVER able to take them Couldn't go to the Dr cause the parents couldn't afford it Was out on the street at midnight cause their parents were still at the pub and didn't know Parrents ended up in prison and they ended up in the system instead of another loving and caring family Couldn't buy extra-curricular books for school or entertainment Never got pocket money for chores Etc Etc Etc Etc Don't get me wrong, there's always going to be some unicorns with many of the above who thrived and did incredibly well for themselves. Life is full of stories of people who have. That's my personal view of underprivileged. I didn't have to worry about any of the basics being there for me. I was without a doubt privileged even compared to some of the kids I went to school with. So much so, that my parents moved house into an area they could barely afford so they could get me into an even better school. I remember my mum working 3 jobs. But someone loving and caring was always home from 3pm when we got home from school. Maybe it's better to ask what's the definition of privileged and work backwards from there? |

Fish n chips on a friday only and just maybe a can of coke.

Shared a room with my sister.
