Yesterday morning I was having a coffee and scone at a cafe in Pokeno, the one next to the south bound bus stop, there were 4 males waiting for the bus when a police vehicle drove by one of them did the 2 raise clenched firts ✊🏼 and the second did "sign of the horns" 🤘🏽, then they start strut around like prized roosters.
Just shows how much respect the police have.

I'd expect to hear more from Sean Plunkett on that. He had an interview with the lady involved the other day. theplatform.kiwi/podcasts/episode/sean-plunket-talks-to-the-albert-park-assault-victimHe asked if she'd be ok if the thug got diversion and she said, if he'd punched me once, then come back an apologised then maybe I would. But he hit me twice and made no attempt to come forward and apologise. The only reason the arsehole was found was because Leo Malloy put up a $500 reward to find him. I think they had the idiots name in 24hrs. Nuzild police can hang their head in shame about that as well.

Never fear eri, we have a gun register now so gun crime will stop, Ginny, Chippy and Costa all said so. Coincidently I was one of the very first in to the register the other morning. Impulse buy of a cute little 22mag semi. The shop had no idea how to work it so after about 40 minutes the 6 of us got the machine happy, it's one of those forms that has limited response options and self promulgates, which is fun as I tried to register a fully automatic Towed Artillery Piece which was going OK to everyone's amusement until it asked for a serial number. I then tried to register a 81mm mortar using the 22's serial but one of the shop dudes corrected it at the gravy stroke, spoil sport. The shop can't let you leave until the register is filled in. The list of weapon options seems to be far more suitable for a dude called Volodymyr Zelenskyy is dealing with more than your average kiwi cocky. What's more the machine knows where your safe is so you can only register to that address. The address where the guns mostly are isn't recognised as there is no postal service to it. No idea what they plan to do there as postal services fade away. So that's a wee cock up as all of that is out of date but in a way also good as that makes me and the family a lot safer. But I see cock ups ahead as I just got a email saying now I have a new gun I have to register it hello that's what we spent a total of 3hrs doing yesterday and you really REALLY do not want me in there without adult supervision

Don't forget the Police have already lost a big pile of firearms owners information. Someone grabbing the database is why so many will be reluctant to be in it. As much as they promise they have tested the site so it's safe, that's what Linkedin said, Visa said, The UK Govt said, the US Govt said and a pile of others who have far better knowledge and resources around stuff like that than the NZ plods. Then consider the NZ's police track record around firearms information security and we see they leave records lying around unsecured and some old Tom, Dick or Shelia did pick them up and walk off with them.
But as I'm now on the Firearms shopping list I have taken steps to ensure my and my families safety when the Police get hacked. It's not hard and does make a wee joke of the register but that was always going to be the case when things are designed by knee jerking.
Do bare in mind EVERYONE who sells guns or parts of has access to the database, plus the police themselves and gawd know whomever else. It's not just a few police who have access, it's not 100's it's more probably 1000's of people whom can go into it legally. Isn't everyone of those people potentially open to being brought by a gang? Isn't the idea of a Register to stop people being brought by a gang and turned into a gun mule?

as labour reduces the need to act responsibly injuries and costs start to rise Auckland Council is now double-teaming some of its dog control officers as they deal with a rising tide of abuse from dog owners. The abuse is linked with rising dog ownership in the city - up 20 percent over the past five years - as well as surging rates of dog attacks and roaming dogs, which are often aggressive.Council figures reveal dog attacks rose by 34 percent over the period, with attacks up 22 percent in the last year alone.www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/492627/auckland-council-increases-dog-control-team-in-midst-of-rising-abuse-attacks-and-roaming-dogs

The owners of a bull that was fatally wounded by arrows fired from a crossbow are devastated the perpetrators have escaped conviction. Two men, who were 18 and 22, eventually pleaded guilty to ill-treating the bull and a steer in the early morning attack in August 2021. They were discharged without conviction on Thursday in the Porirua District Court. www.1news.co.nz/2023/06/30/couple-upset-offenders-who-fired-arrows-into-bull-go-unpunished/Police have slammed two thieves as "aggressive" and "entitled" after they stole $400 worth of loot from Countdown.
According to data from Foodstuffs, Countdown's competitor, retail crime has hit new highs.
The data found a 38.2 percent increase in retail crime in the North Island between February and April this year - an average of 37 crimes a day.
Chief executive of Foodstuffs North Island Chris Quin said the 320 local grocers in the Foodstuffs North Island co-operative have "never seen retail crime at these levels".
"It's an extremely concerning trend and it's unacceptable."
A huge 3285 incidents of retail crime were reported across Foodstuffs North Island from February to April 2023, compared to 2377 incidents in the same quarter in 2022.www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2023/06/aggressive-and-entitled-women-steal-over-400-worth-of-food-and-wine-from-auckland-countdown.htmlmy wife works at a supermarket and says workers are having their hours cut as the business tries to cover the costs of all the stolen food and they're not stealing 'loaves of bread to feed their families' but the most expensive steaks, (that we can't afford)...and now they'll be even less affordable as her hours get cut back
it'd be nice to think the justice system were on to it but under this gov. theft seems encouraged as 'wealth redistribution' in our race to bottom

stole a car tried escaping from police rammed a police car smashed stolen car into a tree you'll be relieved to know police told reporters they are "considering" laying charges that's rather large of them
surprised they turned up at all
thought they would have been at some dysfunctional family home trying to prevent them from hurting each otherwww.1news.co.nz/2023/07/01/driver-rams-police-car-before-hitting-tree-in-auckland-cbd/as labour won't really tell us their plan to protect us from these thugs we have to read their tea-leaves/entrails higher taxes, more social workers and higher benefits in the hope that by paying them more to destroy society they will eventually stop? can't quite follow the logic that says that rewarding sociopaths is the way to stop them
