So in 30 years time when these carbon forests are cut down they can be chipped and used in the biomass boilers that are been installed around NZ as they are phasing out the gas and coal units. Fonterra Waitoa has just commissioned a 30 MW unit and 15.5 MW at Danone Nutrica at Clydevale.

Get real guys!..
In 20 years time you will be in your 80s, you will not be able to spend your wealth fast enough.
You will be downsizing to a smaller unit where you're "assisted living lady" will be helping you ..
Wipe your ass, nose, cock
Push you wheelchair from your bedroom to your drive in shower!
Drive you to the doctors for checkups and a shit load of pills...
Meanwhile, you cannot travel the world as you are to old and crusty..
Then eventually you will be confined to full time care in a retirement home looking at all your money and going WTF... Why? Did I waste time in my 60s fucking around with trees, cow turds, chemical sprays, diggers....
.. when I could be cruising the Med in a nice yacht and experiencing more cultures in a day than you would find in a tonne of cow shit!...
Life's to short @60+ to put money ahead of living/ new experiences .. trust me ive done the large "life sentence block"... Which just consumes time, money, and the best years of your life!.... And for what?
Then I look at my 85yo parents/ inlaws and go WTF... Life gets hard ( poor health) in your 80/90s ...
And don't tell me your doing this all for your kids/passing on a family home heirloom... They wouldn't care and will sell the lot at a drop of a hat if they needed to.

Not hard to guess who it is aimed at.
The problem you have is you did what the crowd told you do to, you should have thought smarter than you obviously did and still are. While living and cruising around the EU and then Asia I learnt a key thing. Old people do the EU, they don't do Asia.
I spent the best years of my life travelling, sailing, drinking but sadly not quite as much whoring as I'd have liked. Lived in the UK, EU and most of the Pacific for years. I only started working in any sort of serious form when I was 39. So in my prime was exploring the world and it's cultures. It was huge fun but I'm now in a place I can take it or leave it. We did Scotland, Taiwan and then into Ho Chi Min to hop on a pocket cruse boats, 8 passengers and 10 crew, then up the Mekong to Sean Reap. The Wa wanted to do the Rhine but fuck no, those boats are no more than floating rest homes. I didn't want to go but the Wa did so to get me to go they invoked two of my triggers, motorbiking and my extreme love of Asian food.
Now it's time to give a little back and put some of those things that comes with age into practice. One being sound management so unlike you we are not tied to the farm, we can come and go as we please and for extended durations. As we are older hence wiser we saw to many of the life sentencers doing it wrong so we set it up smartly, it's not hard. Cost has been there but most if done now so shortly it'll swinging from outward to inward. I did Field Days yesterday and as much as I tried I could only spend 5K, I both disappointed and surprised myself. The Wa still thinks I've a big thing stashed, she can't believe that was all I spent.
So the load I had for Field Days was spent this morning on flights and the necessary to meet D1 who is currently in Croatia and flying to Mexico in a few weeks to work her way down to meet me in Antigua. We're then doing a Daddy and Daughter ride down thru Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and into Costa Rice before flying from San Jose to Dallas Texas for a 5 days study of BBQ. I really didn't want to do the US again but D1 is damn cunning, it was her that invoked the Asian food to get me on the last trip, this time the smartarse did it again, BBQ.
So enjoy the Med and you are right, I will not be joining as I have better things to do that sit around just waiting to die. Oh and I've been there done that and I did in while I was young enough to enjoy it all. I'm told the 5pm Senior special dinners can get quite adventurous, some even have 3 types bread rolls to choose from. Gosh, I hope your heart can handle that much excitement.
If you knew the income our place will be producing soon you'd know why the kids won't sell it. Once in full production the income will dwarf the best you and I have ever managed.
EDIT - No they weren't the best years, they were some of the best years, just like the ones now are as well, just in a differing manner.

I understand those Texans can teach us a thing or two about BBQ'ing meat.... I shall let you know around March 10th.
The only reason I have any desire at all to pass a US border is that and only that.
I have been dabbling with the low n slow but it is a dark art and those that know the key don't share squat diddly

more on the Netherlands government trying to compulsorily acquire 3000 farms
of note in the comments a Dutch person notes that their local media reports nothing about the farmers protests - now doesn't that sound familiar

Why don't/can't people see the blatantly obvious? It's not like you need many cells to work out a shortage drives up prices. Maybe the concept is just beyond too many to comprehend or even bother thinking about, that's sad.

Neil Oliver interviewing on the Dutch farmers
the end game being talked about therein seems to mirror the way the gummint here is forcing farmers to reduce production and taking productive land "out of circulation"

Dutch farmers's set up their own party and have a big win in the provincial elections which determine the make up of the senate
just wish NZ had a party of a similar nature

The head cheese of NZ Beef and Lamb just got booted out in favour of a Groundswell dude.
Not up on the details but judging by many comments it's a bit of a big deal.
