she's resigned stress (of losing her position of power?) drove her into 'uncharacteristic behaviour', not once but multiple times over many weeks, resulting in multiple police reports www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/golriz-ghahraman-resigns-from-parliament-after-allegations-of-shoplifting/TS2LRAYOV5FXFA4JVOEBJ4ZRQU/so the wairarapa list member takes her seat if i was her lawyer, i'd advise getting a 'cultural report'
they don't have to be accurate and they can lead to dramatic sentence reductions
when wynona did the same in the usa her sentence was
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actress Winona Ryder was sentenced on Friday to three years probation and ordered to undergo psychological and drug counseling, bringing to close a very non-routine shoplifting case.
In addition to the probation and counseling, Superior Court Judge Elden Fox sentenced Ryder to perform 480 hours of community service and to pay more than $10,000 in fines and restitution following her conviction for stealing from the Beverly Hills, California, Saks Fifth Avenue store last year.
be interesting to see if nz courts hold an mp to a higher standard
than american courts did for an actress
they'll be shopping for likely judges as we speak

I see she thanked Scottie’s for being understanding. I assume they have withdrawn their complaint

Ah the old mental health card. Guess it wasn't really her fault then. Its a stressfull job representing the peasants. In some ways its probably more the peasants fault than hers. Can we still expect her to get a damehood next year?
Justice ministers drink driving, crashing, resisting arrest. Party leaders lying about their qualifications and MPs shoplifting. What a lovely bunch we have leading our country.

What an utter shambles.
Shaw and Davidson should be asked to resign by the rest of the gangrenes for their piss poor handling of it.
They could have stitched this whole saga up before xmas and it would have been long since dead and buried.
Nice she trotted out the mental health excuse though.

I see she thanked Scottie’s for being understanding. I assume they have withdrawn their complaint I read somewhere one of the scotties owners is a gangrene supporter (no idea if that's true given I'd never heard of the store until a few days ago) but the other is not which sounds like why it ended up in the hands of the fuzz. Seems innevitable that the complaint has been withdrawn. I'd like to know if Dame Chloe was involved in trying to get them not to lay a police complaint. And when did the party know about this?

is marama trying to shift the blame again?
"The Green Party co-leaders say Golriz Ghahraman faced threats of sexual and physical violence while working as an MP."
maybe gg will refuse to acknowledge a white male judge has any jurisdiction over her?
presumably kiri allen also blaming cis white men AND colonisation for her drink-driving.....and not break-up blues from her brown lesbian lovers

well at least she realises now, as muller eventually did
that if your mental health isn't up to the responsibility and pressures of national politics once
it isn't going to be twice
She was quitting politics and would find "other ways to work for positive change in the world", she said in a statement on Tuesday.

Like Maipi-Clarke did about the ram raid on her house. The one where the cops weren't investigating anything, coz there was nothing to investigate...

watch for yourself Ghahraman is flicking through the racks in the recycled clothing area of Scotties. Wearing a vintage Nom D black shirt, her hair up in a high bun, and carrying three bags, including two large totes, she remains in one area of the shop with one hand concealed.
She is seen looking over her shoulder at the other two women shopping in the same section.
After both women leave, the footage appears to show Ghahraman holding a small designer handbag, which was concealed from other shoppers and is placed into one of her two large totes.www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/scotties-security-footage-circulates-of-golriz-ghahraman/ALZVFYQF2FA7DLZLWTBL5ZT4GI/

Was she shoplifting cause she was stressed, or was she stressed cause she was shoplifting?

No, it was the previously undiagnosed trauma.
Which was somehow magically diagnosed soon after this came out in the media.
Clearly still living in a world of unicorns and rainbows.
===================================================
A colleague has just suggested that Golriz could join Kiri in business.
They could call their firm “Smash and Grab”.

Shes is so full of shit it must leak out her ears.. For Green party MP Golriz Ghahraman, op-shopping “is a longtime sport” that makes fashion “affordable, accessible, and unique.” Green party MP Golriz Ghahraman. Green party MP Golriz Ghahraman. Photograph: Golriz Ghahraman “Coming into parliament, I never wanted to wear suits and take on the traditional optics of power – people should never feel like their representatives look out of reach,” Ghahraman says. “As a woman, it also means something not to conform to in what are ordinarily very male-dominated standards of formal wear. So I regularly wear the op-shop finds that make me happiest on speaking engagements, out in the community, and in the House – it means I get to feel like ‘me’ while being an MP.” www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/20/a-thrill-of-subtle-subversion-new-zealand-mps-share-their-love-of-thrifting
