Remember that the Australian suppliers, and generally everywhere else in the world, are locked into long term supply contracts, they need these to finance their projects. Most if not all of Woodside's production goes to China and Japan

That is plain dumb. Qatar and Aussie are the biggest LNG producers. The EU just has to pick up the phone and boom . ... The arrow from Qatar to eu is " to easy" brah! www.bbc.com/news/business-62570900Wow , it really is an eye opener for me this gas thing . I didn’t realise there was almost zero storage in the UK , £3bn to upgrade 12 days worth of storage facility is not a very good return on investment . It’s getting to be a shaky island to live on , no energy security , almost no food security , bugger all manufacturing compared to a few decades back .

If Australia chose to supply the UK with gas instead of china relations would get heated 😂

There was the insane 99 yr lease of Darwin's commercial port, www.aspistrategist.org.au/handling-of-darwin-port-lease-a-fiasco-on-both-sides-of-politics/, the likes of Twiggy Forrest pushing their barrow and Dictator Dan signing Victoria up to the "Belt and Road initiative". Then you have the Chinese ambassador very publicly dictating terms to Australia www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/10/ambassadors-fiery-speech-was-the-sound-of-china-laying-out-terms-that-australia-has-already-declinedAs usual alot of the Labour government is already in their pocket, especially the deputy PM, Richard Marles

Its kicking off. Russia permanently shut NordStream 1, blame sanctions... Turning the screws. This paragraph is gold: Germany, meanwhile, is actively looking to differentiate its source of energy. On Monday, the government said it would keep two nuclear plants on standby beyond the end of the year, in a policy U-turn. Germany had decided to abandon nuclear energy in 2011 under former Chancellor Angela Merkel in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/9/5/russian-gas-flows-halted-until-europe-lift-sanctions
