For want if a better solution that's what they are doing... Europe uses 397 billion cubes PA Aussie and Qatar produce 183 million tonnes of LNG PA. USA 80 million World suppliers current and proposed volumes... Yeah but you've missed the entire point. That 183 million tonnes of LNG that Aust and Qatar produce. Its not sitting around looking for a home is it? Its not surplus. It is not available for Europe. Asia is already consuming all of it.

looks like coal is suddenly in demand again Do you reckon Robertson is smart enough to go "fuck this is going to cost us, let's get our coal industry rolling, start exporting it instead of importing it and make enough money to pay for all the other fuck ups I've made" ?

Weren't al the glorious unreliables renewables supposed to avoid this? They would if they had started building them earlier “I told you so and all that”… China gets it. They are now ahead of their target to be 33% renewable by 2025. And they are investing more on renewables than whole of Europe & US combined. Yes they’re still building some coal plants but much reduced. Smart guys.

This is a fascinating article. Traders are keeping LNG tankers off Europe's coast, waiting for the price to improve. Currently $2billion floating around out there... Sounds like actual demand was lower than projected demand, so storages are more full, and the LNG price is lower. The traders are waiting for winter to start and for people to get a tad more desperate, so they can hike the prices a bit more... Was it Aquaholic that was advocating tankering all of Australia's LNG to Europe, and I was saying "It doesn't actually work like that..." www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/11/6/dozens-of-ships-carrying-lng-lingering-around-europes-coast
