Simple solution for cheap fuel Is for dumb arse NZ Govt to dump the OPEC oil cartel. And buy oil from no OPEC countries,. Or refine our own oil reserves.
By the way...
OPEC holds 80.4% of the world’s proven oil reserves, while the set of 11 non-OPEC nations represent 9.7% of proven oil reserves. With 90% of the world’s proven crude oil reserves held by these nations, they have the capability to disrupt or enhance the supply of crude oil. The list of non-OPEC nations includes Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Equatorial Guinea, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mexico, Malaysia, South Sudan, Sudan and Oman

Europe should close the line and then send a missile up it.
Dependence on Russian gas is dumb.

This pipeline shut down will be interesting to watch and see how long it continues. If I was Russia I'd probably also played silly buggers over the turbines, why not what have they got to lose. It was amusing to see Russia not taking one back due to not wanting Sweden (??) to break the sanctions against Russia. I bet there were a few grins in Moscow over that one

Whilst Western Europe needs the gas, Russia also needs the income from gas sales - fighting wars is an expensive business!
