Hi HT, was waiting. The Landing, you're convinced concept 3 is what is happening and will be the final result, IT WON"T BE. Where will some now get there boats cleaned? Baywater, 20 plus cars and trailers was not uncommon, 30 plus were recorded on six days over 3 months along with 60 plus. Then we also have dinghy sailors and coach boats along with the rowing club. Takapuna ramp, suggest you get down there and use it, yes it good be improved but weather wise this will always be unsuitable for many. Kawakawa boat ramp and a yearly subscription/daily charges all good but again look at the number that use it and the queues, a reason we need to keep what we have.
"Instead of raising public funds to satify a minorty." this quote is so wrong. 2020 recreational boating survey "This year the proportion of recreational boaties amongst the general population is estimated to be 45%, the highest yet recorded. This extrapolates to approximately 1,672,920 adult New Zealanders involved in recreational boating." and in Ak it's 36%. Ok 36% is a minority.
So with the housing intensification and the removal of water access our future generations cannot participate in water activities.
This fight is with the council as well for all marine users.
Yes we are way short of funds, main stream media, not interested maybe because not many are helping.

You and a lot of others have forgotten how powerful the IWI are in Oraki, they will get what they want,no hard stand thats for sure, why risk run off in to the sea as they are trying to rebuld the bay back to pre europeans. I may seem negative, tough, reality is you own a vessel go to a commercial like orams where its all contained in one area, minimise risk.
Wrong on KKB ramp $20 per day $100 per yr,whats westhaven $20 park car + $2 launch $2 retrieve.Takapuna ramp would use if like KKB all weather and so what it cost $20 to use.
NON boating but Hamilton council will be introducing a fee to me to visit the gardens which I frequent.
Keep fighting dont let me put you off but I live in the real world. USER PAYS.
Over and Out!

Thanks to those of you who have donated. While support from the boating fraternity is poor in numbers others are still fighting. For those interested here's where they presented to ACC, watch from around 18.25 www.youtube.com/watch?v=It0SiOy1DHQ

I'm told the AYBA are going to court over the Citys decision to close the Landing.
Akarana has some members who are far from happy as well. There appears to be some serious conflicts of interesting going on in the club.

It's the trust not the club. The trust has all the control and the money, the club has nothing and is not position to influence the trust. Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust is the problem and the club can't influence it. akarana.co.nz/the-trust/

That article doesn't read well for Auckland Council. Sounds like a clusterfuck on their side. Huge ups to these guys pushing the issue. Who is the entity lodging the Judicial Review? Is it the AYBA? There is obviously a fair bit of financial risk associated with it. I see the legal test is "unreasonable and irrational". This sounds better than the best sport, demonstrating that Auckland Council is irrational... In the context of biosecurity risk, I'd put money on the high Court finding the Council closing a boat yard is irrational. Given it is the Council that is sending inspectors to red sticker boats for too much marine growth, and is responsible for keeping the carpet weed out at the Barrier actually at the Barrier and not establish at Waiheke or the Waitemata... Given the precedence that, was it Forest and Bird? got the High Court to State NRC was not doing its job in managing the Northland fishery, there is a good chance the High Court will again intervene in the twaddlebollocks that is local government.

One of many battles the AYBA has undertaken for the benefit of all. These are all linked so any court rulings will hopefully be useful for others. www.ayba.org.nz/submissions/Have another think about a donation
