Nothing new.I pointed that out back in February this yr.It is from the 2013 consultation. Its going to go ahead like it or not.Now where are those 2 cannons gone too??Sat outside RAYC for many many yrs. As muzled pointed out the Hyundai marine centre sign .You wouldnt know the RAYC was with signage over view. I still ask the question.If I read about this way back in 2013 and AYAB/YNZ and various clubs would of known this was a possibility too.Then why was no action taken till late last year/early this year?? After the Bastion Pt protest there was only one option for council and was to bow down to the Orakei marae. Hence why the granting to re seed mussels in the bay,move moorings and non resurreciont the breakwater. I am willing to bet this was all part of the deal for the marina to go in. Remember RAYC didnt back the landing so imo RAYC members didnt use it so no concern to the club if it closed.

VERY GOOD NEWS – refer below – ex summary > the hardstand was thrown a lifeline. Here’s what was passed at the Orakei Local Board meeting
a) approve The Landing concept plan refresh as presented in Attachment A subject to two amendments to the plan that would reduce the planned passive green space area as described in d)i. and d)ii. below and outlined in Attachment E: i) subject to commercial viability, retain approximately 50 per cent of the 2022 managed hardstand area (about 2,750 square metres, including the washdown pad and associated existing filtration system) to establish a smaller, flexible-use site for a short-stay haul-out facility (based on the presentation in Attachment E from the Young 88 Owners’ Association) to be used from May to December each year and the site being cleared and available for activations and major events from January to April, contingent on the approved operator providing the necessary infrastructure and a commensurate commercial return to the Ōrākei Local Board and operating to the highest industry standards in respect of water and air quality management ii) if feasible, retain and utilise the existing filtration infrastructure and associated washdown pad to enable a cost-recovery wash-down facility for small recreational boat/water-craft users as they exit the boat ramp and sea-access ramp areas iii) further to d)i request staff to undertake an expression of interest and other enabling processes to facilitate the establishment of a smaller flexible-use site for a short-stay haul-out facility as soon as possible with a view to commercial arrangements being in place from 1 July 2024, and to keep the local board informed of progress b) request staff to report back before 30 June 2024 outlining an updated amended final plan incorporating d)ii., and, if commercially feasible, with a return to the Ōrākei Local Board incorporating d)i. to enable the local board’s decision making on the final plan configuration

What do they say, a camel is a horse designed by a committee? Halve the space, only allow it to operate in the winter but require it give a commercial financial return to the local board. I'll bet a good bottle of whisky that the Council staff will come back in June 2024 and say they couldn't find anyone willing to operate the hardstand. That would be because they've made it impossible to make it work. Then, they will point out it's been sitting empty for 2 and a half years, so they may as well hand it over to RAYC for 'events'. It's politics 101, respond to the public by saying they will keep it open, but add so much devil in the detail it will never work. Play a long game, and basically wait 6 months, the thing will fall over by itself. Everyone that was using it will drift away, sell their boats and generally loose the energy to battle the machine (Council).

Pretty sure the alternative was never required to provide a commercial return, I recall it needed a $20 million handout to make it happen. It's a step in the right direction, big step with no ladder though,and a hole in front of it.

seems to have gone very quiet about the future of the Landing Hardstand. I hauled CZ out at Robertsons yesterday as the underwater growth was getting too long to leave it until spring. Having a wander around the yard I found 2 of the guys working on one of those Rooderberg "all singing and dancing" trailers with a towing tractor parked beside it. This morning noticed the tractor had a "Landing" sticker on it and the guys confirmed Conrad bought the tractor and trailer from the Landing. They were less than complimentary about the state of the trailer, reckoned it had little/no maintenance for some years. So sadly based on this gear being moved I would say there is little/no chance of the Landing being resurrected.
Conrad has big plans for his yard, now the land issues with Martin are settled. He intends extending the current hard stand and will upgrade the existing car park behind the sheds to another hardstand. The trailer will allow him to get much better use of his travel lift (by offloading boats as soon as they are lifted) and being able to place boats closer together on the hardstand(s) and transport them to the upper hardstand.

Submersible travel lift, goes down the boat ramp with a snorkel and what not. I haven't seen it yet, it is in the re-assembly, servicing and commissioning stage. We just hauled out on the old fashioned cradle and tractor for a hull inspection. I was a little bemused at the need or advantage of a sub-lift, but it will enable lift & washes like at the main marina's, and the cost will only be $150, so I'm looking forward to availing myself of that service instead of drying out on the piles, waiting for the tide to go out, wading around up to my nuts in mud and cold water and getting completely covered in water-blaster blow-back.

Cradle (if requiered) left on hardstand and vessel dropped in. unlike lowering trailer with cradle,moving around yard,jacking up and placing blocks etc

I spoke to one of the staff from The Landing before Xmas, he said they were not going put in a tender, to operate for 6 months was a waste of time and money, they'd never make a return and had had an 'absolute gutsful' of the whole thing and the way the council had engaged with them
So thats that I would think

Rode through last weekend. Giant waste of space. The 15fts or whatever they are, still sitting on the ramp I assume to let them drain, the lockups moved right to the back and the beautiful haulout area just sitting there.
Council wankers.
