Waning immunity after vaccination is linked to a drop-off in antibody numbers - the proteins that neutralise the virus before it can enter the cell. However, the layer of protection within the cells could potentially have more staying power. Studies have found T cells, which attack the infection once it happens, and B cells, which produce a new fleet of antibodies after re-exposure to the coronavirus, don’t drop in numbers at the same rate - in fact, B cells tend to get better at dealing with the virus over time.www.newsroom.co.nz/the-deadline-to-boost-nz-immunitywww.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.23.457229v1My feeling is that the various differing country responses to the need for booster shots correlates with how effective the Pfizer Marketing department was in that country. The boosters show a measurable response in the body in the production of antibodies, as you would hope; as to weather that is necessary is quite debatable.

Fogg Id have a very strong think about vaxing a 7 year old, esp a boy, in my opinion.
Im not anti vax, but strongly support peoples right to choose. Im vaxxed.
Ive got a 9 and 11 year old and am resigned to the fact that they will have to be jabbed to go to school next year, or even see their friends.
From what I can tell/read/looked into, the vax has ZERO positive effects in kids. pfizers own study concluded that kids between 6 and 12 that had the jab suffered 'only slightly midler symptoms' than those who did not have it. Thats word for word. Ill see if I can find it
The Daily Telegraph a few weeks ago finally cottoned onto a study that has shown a 400% increase in some sort of heart condition in boys 8-16 after they have had the jab.
I truly believe there is absolutely no benefit to jabbing a kid, but there is substantial risk in jabbing one.
Elderly, sick, overweight, those with preexisting health conditions are those at risk from covid the vax is the way forward, but not young, fit or healthy people. Of the 30 people I know who have had it overseas, only one has told me it was worse than a 2 day flu, and he is quite overweight. Most said they only had a runny nose.
Everyones circumstance is different but if you are set on jabbing them, have a hunt around, there is plenty of reliable data, esp coming out of the English Medical Journal that shows there is no benefit to jabbing kids, but more than plenty of risk... and this is why they havent jabbed kids in UK is my understanding. If kids catch it, they simply have a few days off school then get on with it. If they have an underlying medical condition, Id also be getting some pretty serious advice, and weigh up the risk/benefit.
I know this view may not be a popular one, and I sure as hell aint no anti vaxxer or Q'non type person, but I think Pfzier have 69 billion reasons why they want your kid jabbed, when even their own study shows it has almost no benefit

looks like decision 29 nov that ak goes 'traffic light' 1 dec but ak borders to remain as rest of country transitions to 'traffic light' over the next 10 days then 10-15 dec ak borders open Auckland's border could reopen by the middle of December, the Herald reports - after New Zealand has entered the Government's three-phase COVID-19 Protection Framework, a 'traffic light system' based on varying levels of risk posed by the virus. While there would still be some policing of the border, it would be a soft boundary with spot-checks, the outlet reports, rather than vetting every car at the checkpoints. Harsher boundaries would also still be possible for some regions - such as Northland - if vaccination rates remain low.www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-delta-outbreak-auckland-borders-could-be-gone-by-mid-december/FKXXARSJL6M2AM3LI2OOA2U32M/

not even worth speculating as we in Auckland get the never ending announcements, about future decisions about announcements.

Tada, I'm here ;-)
I see the PM said yesterday they have made a decision on the border, but we have to wait till Wednesday to find out what her decision is. When asked why? - they have to "operationalise" it. What the fuck does that mean? Think she is enjoying playing god.

Gidday Fish, sick of being slapped around on Crew! hhaha Yes, I hope she enjoys the feeling playing "God", I am sure the polls have more to do with border release dates, than any concern over health outcomes ! Lets hope a vast number of NZers remember all this waffle from her when next election comes around! ....I'm only focussing on getting yacht all clean and antifouled to head North in mid Dec ! ....

What they meant to say was that pfizer becomes ineffective after 4 months at preventing infections, and the entire basis of their response is flawed. They just needed to wait until everyone had the first two shots before announcing you are going to need more. Any notice the stat that just under 1/2 a million people will need a booster in Dec, or face not having adequate protection? For some reason it didn't make the headlines or the 1pm proclomation.

Complicating factor is that he already has a pre-existing respiratory condition and whilst we now know Covid 19 is primarily a vascular disease rather than respiratory, the resulting inflammation can trigger a strong respiratory response. Might need to talk to his specialists at Starship about this.

Hi all - another one climbing up the stern ladder ... Re vaxing youngsters, friends in Taiwan tell me there has been a suspension of vaxing 12 to 15 year old boys due to multiple cases of myocarditis .
