Is the ‘no go ashore’ order at Waiheke driving higher numbers of boats to places like Kawau? I heard that at Man O War they are missing the Auckland $$$ enough that they are driving out to anchored boats and taking takeaway orders (unconfirmed rumour). I heard that Waiheke is easy to police but they are turning a blind eye to Kawau

So what do the latest restriction changes mean? Can we go out overnight now? Nope, unless specifically changed by the .3, .2 or .1 the requirements of 3.0 remain. No overnighting

So I trawled the Covid 19 site and sure enough overnighting is still officially prohibited. But as you say lots doing it. Probably better to stay out on busy days / nights to ensure flock protection rather than be the only boat in the bay mid-week representing an easy target for police.
Shame I’ve got this rogue AIS system running on my boat which means I can’t even switch it off and go into ‘stealth mode’!

Very nice at Kawau at the moment, the weekenders have gone home, about a dozen up Bonnacord last night

Ok so given what we now know of the latest situation and plans, what are everyone’s hopes & dreams for summer on the water?
Fogg’s plan / pipe-dream is:
1. Lift & wash + 24hrs on hardstand week before Xmas to do final wash, anode checks and replace at least one through-hull
2. Sometime after Boxing Day head out into Gulf for 3-4 weeks. Pop back to GH as required due to inevitable breakdowns, laundry and refuels etc.
3. Late Jan / early Feb head up to BOI for another 3-4 weeks (as the biggest Auckland crowds start returning home)
4. Late Feb return home and contemplate life inc. revisit age-old plan to sell up, retire early and go cruising with the family.
5. Early March forget about stupid plan dreamt up in step 4 and go back to liveaboard cruising vicariously through various YouTube vlogs 🙄

Boat out for a wash and anode change on the 25th Nov, then cruising the gulf when ever the weather is nice, no plans to go north as yet, did that last summer, looking forward to Feb onwards when hopefully it is a bit quieter on the water, unemployed/semi retired at the moment so no fixed plans😀
