The reality of it is 1080 is the only way to control rats. All the hunting / shooting options are around deer, goats and rabbits. We've already had a conversation about using a 50cal, or even a shotgun on rats. It is a nonsense. Sure the rabbit boards could pay per bunny tail, but what are you going to do for rats? Cut their tail off and bring it in? You'd have to find it first after obliterating the rat and all the bush around it with a 50cal. That is assuming you can even walk in these areas. Which 98% of you can't. I can see the block button coming in to play soon like I did with ducky 😅

I think it's clear he is passionate about the topic and the views are just a difference of opinion. Ducky on the other hand was a just a nasty piece of work, trolling and constantly taking the contrary view in an aggressive way, just to start yet another shit-fight.

But there is no answer forth coming on how they would combat the pest problem. What I dont get is duck hunting season they are a pest,pukekos/swans not even native, pest from aussie. Open season canadian geese. Goats are feral around all of NZ,just appear in packs. Pigs/deer/rabbits/hedgehog/possums all introduced pests. Thrush/blackbirds/magpies all pests. Stouts/weasles/ferrets pests We have virtually nil native animals, but a few birds,trout/salmon introduced. Wild cats/dogs are becoming a big problem too. Only if there was a market for the pests fur/meat A few cottage industries but nothing full scale,no bussiness screaming out for possums/rabbit/goat/deer/pig

Well mihit you need to have an alternative to what is currently being used. Sounds like typical Greenie oppose current use but no suggestion to alternative. No matter what is proposed or used you will object. Did you have an alternate proposal for me to object to? I'd love to know what you base that ass umption on. I'll refer you back to the post immediately above. Can you tell me what the cost is? Can you tell me what metric is used, and how it's measured? Having an alternative isn't actually a prerequisite for opposing what is currently happening. Cover more area in short time compared to trapper or shooter.Contractor or on wages be paying $35/40 pH minimum. Be like the old rabbit board so much a tail. You still haven't said how you would combat the problem. No-one had a solution to flying, before planes were invented. I know the meaning of the words in the order that you used them. My questions specifically to you, I'll again refer you to the post above. What is the cost (NZD$), and what is the metric. As to covering...time...there's still a good whack of walking time after a drop devoted to recoving carcasses and baits from publicly visible areas. Disagree you can't-walk 98% of the areas. Old mate above was walking around drinking the streams 3 months after 1080 operation. Yes, shooting for rats is a nonsense. Slug guns would work though, if you were recovering tails. But there is no answer forth coming on how they would combat the pest problem. ... We have virtually nil native animals, but a few birds,trout/salmon introduced. So what have you contributed, recently or at all, to pest control or the environmental cause? I should probably mention that I have held a CSL, and used 1080, pindone, brodifacoum, cyanide and a bunch of other toxic shit. Some of us put in the work just cos. Speak for yourself having no natives around. This tree is 10 feet from where I'm sitting now (Tui low-right of centre frame), and I could kill the kukupa with a shovel, if I was so inclined. Anyway here's a snippet of the by-kill that doc admits to 1080ing, their data is ambiguous/unclear but I believe this is on 1 or 3 operations. Again I believe this is undercaptured for a start, being they only really clear either side of walking tracks, and underreported for politics. This data is largely based on DOCs own internal VPRD which afaik they haven't released to the public, and would probably make for damning reading if they did. _

Pretty hard to back up an opinion you got in the post with a F&B subscription, when it actually comes to justifying it eh.
