luxton was just on the radio, probably the first time i've heard him
sounded great
like an adult speaking to an adult
not a mediocre mind talking to a child
we need more adults in the beehive!
apparently cindy's speech in hamilton was drowned out by protesters
not hard hit auckland
humble hamilton
will the news see fit to accurately share
the events of the day?

So Luxon has less experience than Don Brash when he took over National. Will Luxon be a Brash or a Key? He has been anointed by Key, meaning Luxon is a puppet for the big money. It is all about the fund-raising... or, how should we say? buying influence.

for me it's about moving on from
stumbling from 1 crisis to the next
never getting ahead of the curve
always being reactive rather than proactive
getting away from trying to make new theories work
and getting back to getting the tried-and-true working again!
labour have always seen themselves as being a 'revolutionary' gov.
bringing to nz the change it feels nz needs
but they never know how to make those changes work!
they just soldier on in revolutionary zeal looking for more things to wreck
until the people scream ENOUGH
put the adults back in
and hope they can get THE NEW to work

they can't pretend to be transparent anymore
not when journalists are told to use the official secrets act
to find out what they've done
all of their big policy moves
turned out to be in the small print of what passed as their manifesto
and all the big print promises
evaporated

Stale pale male evangelical god bothering antiabortion with a fence post up his ass about conversion therapy. National stepping back in time 20 years. Do you really want that?
He’s slightly to the right of the Rimmer look alike that runs ACT, so the trumpesque part of the party and voter base will love him, but likely to alienate a lot more nearer the nz political centre if he’s not careful
Likely get a bump in the polls as a new face post crusher, he has two years to mount a credible opposition against the current mob, something that has been distinctly lacking from team blue in the couple of years….

Yup but that’s only 1 of the 3 essential elements: 1. Get things done (early signs promising but unproven until in power) 2. Get the right things done ie policy (too early to know) 3. Win over (enough of) the mood of the nation (too early to say)

Dangerous subject for labour to bring up I would have thought. Can't really blame Luxon or his mates for house owners recent windfall.

Question. My understanding is that a sitting president in the US has to hand over day-to-day affairs of any business activities as they take office to (try to) reduce potential conflicts of interest.
I think Trump was meant to do that with his property portfolio (how effectively that actually happened is a moot point).
Here in NZ do similar rules apply to ministers? How do they navigate those conflicts here?

where's the story on the price rise of jacinda's pt.chev property?
or if she sold it
where's the outrage over the untaxed capital gain?

Key put his assets into a blind trust. When that Cayman Islands scam came out he was challenged on if he was profiting on it - all he could say was it was a completely blind trust.

so bridges gets the good job of finance
and we hear murmurings even muller may get something he can sink his teeth into
excellent
if they are to rebuild the broad-church they need all the talented who want to be there working hard at supporting the team
hopefully even space for crusher there
maybe even paula bennett could come back

Broadly, English and Joyce's apparent obsession with debt-to-GDP ratios has been replaced by productivity as National's number one focus. According to Luxon, "for the last 30 years, our economy has been suffering from a productivity disease".
stressing not so much the quantity of government spending but the quality.
if Luxon and Bridges can shift attention to what return government spending delivers — or whether it delivers any return at all — they will set up a serious conversation about what investments in education, primary healthcare, transport and other infrastructure are needed to boost productivity, not just what fat should be trimmed.www.nzherald.co.nz/business/matthew-hooton-dream-start-for-christopher-luxon-nicola-willis-combo/2GK7X3XBYJL25XPXGK6CQZ2Z6I/
