so bridges gets the good job of finance and we hear murmurings even muller may get something he can sink his teeth into excellent if they are to rebuild the broad-church they need all the talented who want to be there working hard at supporting the team hopefully even space for crusher there maybe even paula bennett could come back More to the point, they only have 33 MP's. If you took out any of the 4 previous leaders or contenders, you are left with 29 (excuse my simple math) BUT, anyone with any capability at all has already had a tilt at leadership. Half of the 29 will be dead wood / a waste of space. Luxon has no choice but to engage with the ex's. Besides, it makes him look good. That said, I think they need to lance the boil that is Collins. And eri, did you really use talent and Paula Bennett in the same sentence? I am disappointed in you....

have never really watched her enough to judge her 'competance'
but she ticks so many 'woke' boxes
if she could just lose a leg or something

I thought Todd Muller had announced his retirement from politics? Surely he's a goneburger along with Judith Collins ? And Paula Bennett. Look back and you can see why the Nats are where they are

Latest Roy Morgan poll, taken before the National leadership change. RM polls tend to be a bit "volatile" but there is a clear trend here. I bet Labour's internal polling from UMR is telling them the same thing. Last poll before Xmas is Curia's. Going to be interesting to see when the panic button is pushed in the Beehive. Their propaganda outlets seem to be surprisingly silent about this result, wonder why?

If I read that correctly does it mean that if we had an election today then Nats-Act could form a Govt?

Be Kind You mean a race based militia controlling movement and checking identity papers? I am absolutely gobsmacked this idea is even being considered, yet alone sanctioned by the govt & Police. It is the sort of stuff I'd expect in the US. Or Syria. I wouldn't trust myself to go through one of those checkpoints without getting into a fight. Luckily I'm not planning on driving to Northland this summer.

I’m also saddened (but no longer surprised) to see this happen.
But what exactly is the purpose of those checkpoints? Who will they stop vs let through. And do they have any legal meaning? In other words if the govt / police has given these iwi checkpoints their blessing does it mean the iwi have legal powers to stop people passing through?

You are not required to be vaccinated to drive on the road. Can't quite see how you can be forced to disclose your vaccination status while being somewhere that does not require it. Looking forward to the conversation. Will try get it on camera.

We better be careful and stick to our anonimity.I would never have believed NZ would come to this . Next step is we disappear like Peng Shuai who of course is alive and well. Their Government says so. Don't tell me it will never happen.4 years ago you would never have believed in Iwi roadblocks being law.

Luckily I'm not planning on driving to Northland this summer. Northland voters are very swingy, the call to allow Hones Heros is political for the votes. I can't understand why they were denying it on Wed/Thurs when they had passed the law allowing them weeks earlier.
Police are there, they know all it will take is one muppet on either side to say one thing wrong and it could blow up huge within seconds. As soon as it does that BOOM it'll be all on.
We'll be going thru them, probably quite a few times. I have before and it more informational, no data gathering...not that I would have given them any anyway.

They were informational i.e. lots of vulnerable Maori up here so take extra care. I bite my tongue about the heavy racist aspect of it.
But that was before they had laws on their side so no idea now.

Back to Luxon.
Some suggest he maybe OK, some suggest he's the devils ball bag. I'd suggest it's way to early to tell and we'll have to wait to get a better idea when he goes head to head with Beloved Leader. It remains to be seen whether he goes after the PM or after Jacinda. He has to go after the PM, not Jacinda. He'll have to stand his ground hard either way, I see forces marshalling big time. That alone suggests the Govt is worried about him.
Haven't heard him speak or bugger all as yet. First impressions are the trolls will have fun with him.

In other words if the govt / police has given these iwi checkpoints their blessing does it mean the iwi have legal powers to stop people passing through? Community Patroller, Nominated Iwi rep or Pasifika Warden now have the power to use the Search & Surveillance Act 2012 to stop you, anywhere, and demand your personal details. Under that Act you are legally obliged to provide them. They also have the power to shut down any business, even by verbal instruction. They don't even have to find the owner or manager. Just the person that 'appears to be in charge'. If you have a problem with it, you need to go to the District Court. Refer sections 22, 23A & 24, especially Section 22 clauses 4 & 6, starts at page 29 of the Act at the below link. You can't even make this shit up. www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2020/0012/latest/LMS344134.html?fbclid=IwAR18zPmTb1es04K-lDGhgQ6rB9M7AfgkrPFhoFAWb2BKFlPgBVS_0v8MN64

Section 18 and 19 are quite relevant too:
Every enforcement officer (other than a constable in Police uniform) exercising any of the powers conferred by or under this Act must, at the time of exercising that power, and subsequently on request, produce— (a) evidence of that person’s appointment as an enforcement officer; and (b) evidence of that person’s identity.
You are required to answer specific questions, but not disclose your vaccination status unless it is specifically required by an order for the activity or location you are in.
