On your behalf -
After the world shattering attempted terrorist attack earlier this week I have just asked the Police Firearms Licensing if now they have been deemed a dangerous and violent weapon by the NZ Government, do I need to get an endorsement on my licence should I buy a Lamington?
Also if the rumour it true that Raspberry Lamingtons are about to be placed on the same banned list as semi auto AK47's, Shoulder Mounted Rocket Launchers and Thermobaric weapons, will there be a Lamington Buy Back?
I shall report back with the response.

Are you talking about the coconut flake coated baked sponge product? or some sort of mystery brand of gun? If your talking about chocolate and strawberry sponges, I've completely missed the subtext to this. Was the back story on MSM?
PS, you boat looks like a bulldozer going up a river. What does she rate?

Last week Grant Robertson had to call in the Diplomatic Protection Squad as he was confronted by hecklers who were armed (the words used by him and in at least one MSM report) with pink Lamingtons. GR is now saying due to how the political landscape has become more aggressive, and now brandishing weapons, toward pollies there will be less public interaction. He's using those 'armed protesters' as an excuse for his Govt to be even more aloof and arrogant. Using a fucking sponge cake as an excuse to run and hide, I can't think of a way you could you make yourself look more of a soft cock. I did have to laugh at Seymour wondering why GR is has to have the DPS to protect him from Lamingtons when it's pretty obvious the Lamington's have way more to fear from GR

Oh, that. I didn't realise he was being heckled with lamingtons. That is very funny throwing lamingtons at the fat fucker. Below is a copy paste of my post on the same topic from the "Labour Followers" thread. As Jim said, if most people were confronted with that level of anger, they'd take a moment for some introspection and self-evaluation. They'd look at themselves and ask, why are these people so angry with me? But Robertson just spins it and blames everyone else. I really wonder if Robertson and Adern realise just how much damage and division they have done to our society? Grant Robinson thinks threats and abuse toward politicians is rising. No, not to 'politicians' just you, because you are a cunt. www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/129936504/acting-pm-grant-robertson-says-2023-election-will-be-riskier-for-politicians-as-threats-and-abuse-rise

It seems they genuinely think their shit don't stick, bizarre.
Now you mention that it does make perfect sense.

hmm, so once again it appears the new Firearms register is leaky, from BFD comments
Boom, we said all along this will happen, this went up last night on a hunting blog. Major Data Breach I’ve just come across a companies database on the open web under their company google search with hundreds of firearm owner details. Full Names, Addresses, FAL details and photos of licence, vehicle details, phone numbers. Do I contact the police immediately or wait for the morning and contact the company? It’s not glaringly obvious what it is when it shows up in the search results but the only reason I found it was when googling someone, a random photo of a firearms licence popped up in the google image results. Thought it was strange, clicked on the google image and associated webpage and the database popped up.

I see some duck dodge and weave kicking in around the above numbers this morning. It will be interesting to see where it goes, if anywhere at all.It won't be helpful in the upcoming Te Waka Ora Gun Registry review that is apparently happening shortly.
When in the US chatting to the good old boys, their biggest fear around weapons is the Government is coming for them, which does seem a little paranoid as I believe their Constitution guarantees them the right to hold arms in case the Government does go feral on them. In NZ not the same checks so many I talk to are very Register hesitant for that exact same reason. The Registers promoter is also a big issue the Register has as she, and her string pullers, are easily the PM most likely to use the register against the legal law abiding citizens in the register.

Post from Cam Slater this morning on the fiasco that is the Gun Register thebfd.co.nz/2024/02/01/nicole-mckee-smashes-labour-with-facts/excerpts Hon NICOLE McKEE (Associate Minister of Justice (Firearms)): Data released by Police under the Official Information Act has revealed that only 123 of the 6,571 firearms seized by police between January 2020 to November 2023 could be traced back to permits recorded on the police National Intelligence Application. The fact that the vast majority of seized firearms cannot be matched with a permit is deeply concerning and raises questions about the effectiveness of the firearms registry. These firearms that are illegally held by gangs and criminals will not be captured by the firearms registry, yet law-abiding, licensed firearm owners still have to bear the burden of additional regulation.Slater The bottom line is this. The politicians reacted with emotion on false information provided by Police who have an agenda to disarm all New Zealanders and they’ll lie and munge data to suit their agenda. I’ll give you one example…Police and Labour, along with their unquestioning hand-maidens in the media, ran hard the line that “straw-buyers” were a massive problem, that amazingly a register would solve. Nevermind that the Police can only point to just two actual cases of straw-buyers amongst the thousands of firearms transactions over the years. No, because the Police said it was a problem the politicians thought that a register might solve that problem because the Police said so.

An inside word is telling me the impending Registry review may suggest a few changes and tweaks to it but it will stay.
It's suggesting the new Govt do see and know the issues which will address them via the review. Basically get it working to start with and increase security dramatically. There is also the suggestion it moves from a 'be all to end all solution' to one of 'another tool in the box'.
That will calm some but not sure that will calm all.
Also what's happening now, due to the register, is when you get a licence renewal that is regarded as 'an event' at which time you are suppose to lodge all your weapons in the register. I'm hearing some are rehousing their weapons during the renewal so when the plods arrive they can't make a list of what you have. But I'm also told when they do the safe check during the renewal they can not look inside it unless you let them of they have a warrant. But while I know people are temporarily stashing weapons I don't really know the legalities of peeking into safes.
During my renewal the safe was sussed well (on security I received 'excellent') but I was never asked it's contents or to open it.
