Something that makes me very sad is how Maori are constantly, consistently and repeatedly told they are inferior. Almost always by the likes of Willie Jackson, as in the govt, govt agencies, Ministry for Education, Ministry for Health, all telling them they are inferior. Oh, but the people and organisations saying that are 'there to help'. That is that they are over represented in all the bad stats, under represented in the good stats and need all sorts of help and intervention. What triggered me on that is muzled's comment about always laughing. It is like the story of the Mexican fisherman and the billionaire. The billionaire asking the fisherman why he doesn't work hard, by a bigger boat, build a fleet of boats, take on debt and become a billionaire, so that he can then spend time on the beach, relaxing and being happy. The fisherman is already doing that. It just doesn't comply with the billionaire's world view. One way to look at all the stats of Maori being inferior is to say they are being judged on Colonial measures.
I was sickened during the pandemic by (amongst many things) how every hour we would get reinforced how inferior Maori were when the MSM would report the numbers vaccinated for the whole population, and then single out that one ethnic group, because they were being naughty, not complaint and generally inferior.
I think of my smart, intelligent mates with smart intelligent daughters, who identify as Maori, and wonder how they must feel getting labelled like that day in day out.

It wàsnt forced it was offered . And gracefully accepted and progressed maori into the global community.. in fact it was needed to save maori from themselves.. or before another flagged ship arrived from France or Spain or .. with less than peaceful intentions You need to brush up on your history. English was legislated. It was forced on the Maori population by an act of parliament. In the history of New Zealand, the only language that has ever been legislated and mandated onto our citizens is English. Even today Te Reo is not a legislated or mandated requirement. I understand it might be difficult or even impossible to find a school that doesn't teach some Te Reo but seriously, you expect me to believe that there's a single school in NZ that forces it's children to learn only in Te Reo. There's absolutely nothing wrong with kids learning a few Te Reo words as part of their schooling. The problem is when they come home to their parents excited about the new word they have learned and they get a scolding...

I tell you what's going be interesting to watch... And that's how much the police and justice tell the government to fuck off. They are legally separate and the government cannot tell them what to do or how to do it... We already saw it under labour with the three strikes law... The judges went - er no - not on our watch - we're implementing this differently... The minister for policing hates the commissioner... Well he ain't got no power fire him... Let's see how the get tough on crime policies actually play out... Anyone noticed a drop in ram raids? I listened to Coster on the radio yesterday and heard shit I never expected too.
After Costers meeting with Mitchell Coster was very happy at being told 'the police will stick to policing, stop the social worker shit'. Apparently last Govt wanted the Police to be social workers and pamperers which obviously lead to some very poor outcomes and lots of nasty being ignored. But Mitchel told Coster, you are police stick to policing. Coster seemed very happy at having a Minister who clearly told him what the expectations are and the end game he wants to see happen. While Coster was pushed hard he didn't out right say he preferred the new Minister and his approach to the old Minsters it was pretty obvious he does. Coster said to expect to see changes on the street quickly.
Some of the things said weren't those you'd normally expect to hear in a political chat like that.

I tried to learn Maori twice. The first time I was told to piss off as it wasn't a language for whities. The second time was the 1st and only time I've been called a honkey before being told to piss off again.
That was in the early 80's and the offensive fuckwits both claimed to be Komatua (chief dudes probably spelt different).

That's good to hear. Maybe they can bury the hatchet and we'll have an effective police force...

I've done various night classes in the past for personal improvement and shits and giggles. Some Coastgaurd courses. Decided to learn Spanish AFTER travelling through South America for 3 months. Anyway, no matter where I looked and what I googled, I could not find any way to learn Te Reo. No night classes, no online courses. Nothing, zip, nadda. Since then I've got a missus, kids and a mortgage and doing extra studies is the last thing on my priority list.

What station was that on G3? Be interested to have a listen to it. Sounds like Coster is either lying through his teeth about the new direction or he's done an extremely good job of keeping his real thoughts hidden from the world for the last 5? or so years.

Driving to rural yesterday evening so I'm gonna say oh oh... yes I remember, 1ZB and it was Jack Tame interviewing him as I was expecting Heather. Jack tried hard to get Coster to say which Govt Party he preferred but Coster wasn't going there and said 'Does it really matter, I'm a policeman not a politician'. I was quite 50/50 about Coster but he went up huge in my book after that. I listened hard and do believe he was genuine.

Groundswell are hearing the below rumours of pressure on the Govt:
The celebration is over and we've been busy planning and keeping an eye on the promises the new Government made for their first 100 days in office.
Unfortunately, we have heard through our channels that the Government is coming under immense pressure from green-activists in the public service, business, and the media. The problem is that our elected representatives (past and current) seem to be far more afraid of the 'green lobby' than they are of Kiwi farmers and rural communities.
We want to work with this Government to see their promises fulfilled. They are talking the right talk! But mark our words, if promises are broken we will have no choice but to mobilise once more.
We are working on a small website to monitor the progress of the Government on their 100 day promises. In particular, we are keeping our eyes on SNAs, Freshwater Rules, the Ute Tax, and the Methane Tax.
We've been told that two of them are looking pretty shaky already 🤫
We'll be in touch next week with details.

Groundswell, drop the self-importance. The 21st century called, and it's leaving you behind. Quit the stubborn act, embrace change, or enjoy being a relic in the dust of progress. Time to wake up and smell the innovation.

Are you saying you only want to eat food grown in a lab?

Are you saying you only want to eat food grown in a lab? Nope, no personal food preferences here. Lab-grown food? It's a hot topic for sustainability and ethics, but tastes differ. Your plate, your call.
