I believe that free speech is an important value that is essential to democracy and open dialogue. However, hate speech against a minority is not protected by free speech laws in many countries, including the New Zealand.
Hate speech is speech that is intended to degrade, intimidate, or dehumanize individuals or groups based on their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. Hate speech can have serious negative impacts on individuals and communities, contributing to discrimination, harassment, and violence.
While free speech is an important value, it is not an absolute right, and it is important to balance it against other rights, such as the right to be free from discrimination and harm.
Providing an extreme perspective, I doubt very much, that any one of you on this forum who thinks that they support "free speech" would support providing a platform to an individual who wanted to promote and speak on a topic titled, The Adult Health Benefits of Child Pornography.
Not even one of you so called free speech supporters would support that. (I hope).
Which means you do actually understand that free speech is not an absolute right...

seemingly we now have tacit police approval to throw tomato juice at any public speaker we disagree with
or anyone we even think is going to say something we disagree with
if i known that when i saw cloe at the library i might have been able to better make the point that as mp for central auckland she doesn't represent me!
off now to stock up on juice, could be a busy year

and now add "cis" to the list. From Wikipeda Cisgender (can be shortened to cis; sometimes cissexual) is a term used to describe someone who has a gender identity that matches their sex assigned at birth. The world is moving to fast for this "SPM" stale pale male.

Although had been in use for about 2 decades before that...

Just to clarify, are you saying the majority disagree with the protesters or with KJK? The majority disagree with kjk. A minority didn't want her in the country at all. The majority understand that free speech must be protected but hate speech or dangerous speech masquerading as free speech must not. The majority of women are not terrified by trans activists. Can you support that as I've seen polls and the aftermath would suggest you are not only wrong you're wildly wrong.

I've been very much surprised by the support for free speach / Posie whatshername from people on my FB. Other than the usual suspects on my FB, my farming family aunty from Gisborne, and a lefty-pooff-tree-hugging-vegetarian social worker friend of my missus, who is also one of those lunatic anti-vaxxers, and who lost her job to the mandate, came out in support. I thought if I was going to upset anyone with the shit I was sharing on FB it would have been her (the social worker) but no. Apparently she thinks women should be able to speak, and raving, intimidating and violent chicks with dicks need a good bitch slap.

Like 99% I had never heard of PP or KJK.
But as soon as I saw the media go after her I thought maybe I need to find out so I hit the web. I found a few shortish interviews with here that didn't hold bugger all conversational and none attacked Trans. I then saw that Fox News (?) Tucker dude interviewed her so thought that'll be hard right and if she's anti it'll be there for sure. 55 minutes later I came away wondering where all this anti-trans rhetoric is coming from as she didn't have much to say about Trans at all.
She wants some spaces kept safe from penises, that's it, penises. At times she doesn't want a penis in her space, certainly doesn't want one around her young daughter. She said if anyone of any persuasion want a dunny/space then that fine with her as long as there is a dunny/space she/her daughter can use without having to site a penis, be it on a man being a man or a man acting as a women. She is not anti trans she is anti penises in some spaces, spaces that now have penises appearing in them.
But as usual the lovies and media decided they wanted a beat up and went for it.
Watching a couple of the videos yesterday I'm appalled at all those who stomped all over womens right to have a chat about their experiences and even more appalled by grown men attacking women like that while being supported by fucking MPs, as fucked in the head as those MPs have already demonstrated they are. This morning I chatted to a mate whose full lesbo (a term she uses to described her and her wife), she is also appalled and now a little scared at what blow back there will be from it.
The trans community and supporters have lost my respect after that abysmal and despicable display of utter selfishness and violence they were very easily conned into supporting by some overly delicate retards with nasty divisive agendas.

The right to free speech does not extend to physical violence or intimating behavior.
Unfortunately that's what we saw from LGBTQ+ supporters.
