The health system is short some 4000 nurses, but foreign nurses aren’t made a priority for automatic residence so they’re leaving.
While the health system is falling apart, an NZ$11 billion project attempts to restructure the bureaucracy.
The polytechnics, which had been working tolerably well, are undergoing a $200 million merger that’s threatening to ruin the sector.
Business cases for Let’s Get Wellington Moving cost over $100m before anyone considers building anything.
Centralising the fire service has brought high cost, equipment failure, and strikes.
An initiative to fund counselling for school students seems on track to deliver less than 10% of what was promised.
As Mclauchlan asked: “Aren’t we seeing an erosion in state capacity alongside all this centralisation and expansion? Aren’t outcomes in health, education and welfare trending down rather than up? What’s going on?”

not just kiwis getting sick of self-appointed moral leaders trying to enshrine their ideology The 388-article proposed charter sought to put a focus on social issues and gender parity, enshrined rights for the country’s Indigenous population and put the environment and climate change centre stage in a country that is the world’s top copper producer. It also introduced rights to free education, health care and housing.
The new constitution would have established autonomous Indigenous territories and recognised a parallel justice system in those areas, although lawmakers would decide how far-reaching that would be.
In contrast, the current constitution is a market-friendly document that favours the private sector over the state in aspects like education, pensions and health care. It also makes no reference to the country’s Indigenous population, which makes up almost 13% of the populationwww.1news.co.nz/2022/09/05/chileans-resoundingly-reject-new-progressive-constitution/

I see the fairy princess is heading of to the big apple on inaugural AirNZ flight to head to the UN to talk fest about the Canterbury Call, Covid and Ukraine................plus talk about my new job. I am highly supportive of her trip to the UN. I hope her job interview goes well. I wish her the best of luck. I am more than happy to fund her trip and interview personally, through my taxes. The sooner we can palm her off to the UN the better. It will be money well spent. It will mean the amount of work required by myself and many, many others, is reduced, to ensure we get rid of her at next year's election.

Labour inherited a state housing wait list of about 5000 families, but now it's edging ever closer to 30,000.
In fact, the Government is actually demolishing lots of state houses, and in some places selling off the land to the private sector.
For example, it has been reported recently that while 193 houses have been built so far this year, 202 houses have been demolished since January.

There is nothing I can see that makes me think voting for Luxon is anything more than just a vote against Jacinda. It won't change bugger all else.

yet another example of wise spending wasteful throwing away of tax payers money thebfd.co.nz/2022/09/12/you-might-have-missed-it-but-this-story-is-important/every time you think there financial wrecking of the country could not get any worse they find new depths to plumb then there in the latest on the Mahuta mafia co-rruption www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2022/09/mahutas_husband_included_mahuta_in_application_for_funding_from_tpk.htmlcomment from Rodney Hide within the KB posting Rodney Hide
Hi Benedict
Nanaia arrived in Parliament the same election as me. I have watched her. I also took over from her as Minister of Local Government.
I always found her pleasant which could not be said for many of her colleagues.
I would be amazed if she staged a coup. I would think it more likely that gravity reverses. She is just there. That is all.
She doesn’t rock the boat. Her policies will be driven by those around her. She will at most just nod. She is compliant and collegial with no agenda other than to be there. The agenda being run in her name is not hers: she just runs with it.
I suspect it emanates from an activist bureacracy.
Here’s my scary thought: she keeps her position because every other option for the Prime Minister is worse.
