It's a difficult point for the left to make - because its not very politically correct - but I'll say it: many of the people National is talking about are unemployable. If you've successfully shifted across to the health and disability benefit on the basis of mental illness then you probably do have a few issues, whether you're faking or not. It's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. As much as we should aim collectively to help these people improve their mental outlook and engage with the world, it shouldn't fall to already stressed business owners to manage the rehabilitation process.
Immigration can help us avoid recession and speed the path back to higher levels of growth in the coming years.
That might require softening of Labour's policy reform for a while. It certainly means more resources and attention for the embattled workers trying to process Visa applications.
And if National - under its new leadership - wants to stand-up as a champion of economic growth it needs to sharpen its focus on immigration and hone policy that will help business compete internationally for the workers it actually needs.www.nzherald.co.nz/business/liam-dann-labour-and-nats-missing-the-mark-on-worker-shortage/6J7RMIF33NSOOHJSAVRGK5NTRM/?ref=readmore

True but do you see a nat/act collective being any better than a Labreen?
There is nothing I can see that makes me think voting for Luxon is anything more than just a vote against Jacinda. It won't change bugger all else.
FFS of course it will. Luxon has committed to winding back many of the loose left loonie plans . And ... Just getting rid of Stalinda is worth it .... As a third term would fuck you kiwis right over.... Absolute power currupts absolutely!!! So he's made an announcement. Haven't you been watching the Govt for the last decade or so, they make announcements by the dozen willy nilly as they think the headlines warrant. But how many of those announcements have actually actioned?
JK made some about unwinding Helens stuff, did he do it? Nope.
Your bestie Jacinda said she'd roll back some of JK's things but did she? Nope.
So why is Jacinda corruptible but Luxon not? How do you know he wont come out and replace compulsory Te Reo with praise the Lord crap instead? He is apparently a very religious dude and they can be as fanatical, if not even more, than you're average political ideologist.
I see little difference between Lab and Nat, both have a poor track record, both look too greedy, both are all about the power not the people, if both disappeared over night NZ would be a better place.

Wtf does Ardern think she has the right to take a caravan of hangers-on to the Queen’s funeral in London. Every country has been told that due to the large number of attendees that each country should send just one representative plus spouse / partner.
So why does Ardern think she can ignore that request?
“Other New Zealanders attending are: the Māori King, Kiingi Tūheitia, former Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright, Victoria Cross for New Zealand recipient, Willie Apiata, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Sir Don McKinnon, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Jacinda Amey, Sir Tipene O'Regan, Aivale Cole, Whaea Esther Jessop and Jacqueline Gilbert.”

I'm not across the details, but they don't all have to attended the actual funeral. There will be plenty of networking events, sorry, memorials held in and around London at the same time. I'll bet you a good bottle of whisky there will be a networking event at NZ house while they are over there. Need to take someone business leaders would actually want to talk to, like a war hero. And just think of the marketing opportunities. Our Dear Leader wearing a Korowai shoulder to shoulder with Buff war Hero Willie Apiata, Dame Kiri and who-ever those others are. Never. Miss. a. Photo. Opportunity.

Due to an accident of timing, I’ll also be in London for pre-arranged business trip. But Ardern’s bloody entourage will be consuming plane seats, road space and oxygen that could be more productively used by the rest of us.

Yep but what would you expect from the lying cheating hypocritical bimbo. Her jet doesn't contribute to her proclaimed manmade CC...its the same one James Offshaw used. Its commonly called a junket with her mates. Maybe she stops off in NY for a preliminary job interview. Before she gets the heave ho

One of the reasons that Māori might have believed Ardern’s Government would deliver in the areas that poor and working class Māori care about, is that the Māori caucus in Labour is the biggest ever. Commentators said that the fifteen Māori MPs in Government would have strong leverage over Ardern and her fellow ministers. What’s more, six out of the 20 Cabinet ministers are Māori – which is proportionally much greater than wider society.
Generally, the Māori caucus in Labour has been focused on constitutional and cultural reforms. But are these the right ones? Unfortunately for Labour, the main concerns of Māori voters – especially those who are struggling – are more materialist, such as housing and employment.
Much of what the Labour Government has been delivering for Māori often looks more like symbolism and bureaucracy. And in many cases, it’s been about assisting more middle class Māori supporters, especially those in business. Hence last year Willie Jackson convinced his government to make 5 per cent of their $42 billion procurement budget available to Māori businesses.
This all raises the question of whether Labour’s Māori MPs have focused on the right issues. Or, perhaps the question is whether Labour has become too focused on more elite or middle class Māori concerns.
Ardern would be wise to realise that when it comes down to it, most Māori voters are quite similar to non-Māori voters in caring more about the delivery of the basics – especially an improved standard of living. In this regard, Ardern should take note that the Horizon poll of Māori voters earlier this year pointed to why Māori voters were leaving Labour: “As inflation begins to bite, 72 percent say the cost of living is the main issue they will vote on, followed by housing and health.”eveningreport.nz/2022/09/16/bryce-edwards-political-roundup-labours-fraught-battle-to-retain-the-maori-vote/
