Maybe they are afraid of showing vomit inducing concern ? The spin being put on comments from both sides of the political spectrum is diabolical . It’s going to be a tense week or two in the US . Hopefully it doesn’t descend into a football hooliganism type of scenario on the streets , Red vs Blue with guns . Flamethrowers are trending with rednecks at the moment too , what a country .

You might hurt some feelings dissing Alex Jones . Sons 1-2 and stepson think he’s on to it , along with Joe Rogan , Andrew Tate and Tucker Carlson . They seem to resonate with a certain sector of society which is fine if you are eating popcorn from a distance , might be a bit different if the shit they wish for starts happening in your home country .

How far off some crazy civil war is Merica?
Some of EM's comments got me thinking. I thought about doing a deep dive into those right wing nutjob commentators, but just went and had a look at Sailing Anarchy's threat on this instead. Don't know what you guys think, but I'd expect SA to be fairly middle of the road for a forum in Merica. At least in that it is not on the fringes of the internet, and the vast majority of users on SA are going to be moderately educated and not living in poverty. As in not extreme views either way.
Anyway, I found the tenor and frequency of views a little unsettling. Half of them are saying it is a Republican set-up - how could you possibly get such iconic photos of Trump with the Merican flag behind, etc, this is playing perfectly into his hands etc. Then the other half are genuinely disappointed the shooter missed etc. Hang on, those two halves are basically the same, hmmm The other half are calling it a conspiracy to stop Trump etc.
Then, half the stuff you guys are posting (CZ et al) is like, WTF?!?
Other things that really struck me: Trump still being manhandled off the stage and the crowd are chanting USA! USA! USA! People in the crowd pulling fingers at the media / cameras. Think it might have been BBC I read people were yelling at media saying "You caused this, you did this" and "MSM, you better report the fucken truth this time" There is some real visceral anger, and not just because of the shooting.
When I first heard Trump was shot, my initial reaction was "shame they missed", although I don't have any major issues with his policies, I just think there are two guys going for office that are clearly not fit for office. Anyway, my position has changed and I am very glad he wasn't killed.
Firstly, if he was, it would be a tragedy for democracy. You can't vote for the person you want if they are dead. Secondly, what would happen if he were killed? What would his supporters do? They stormed the parliament just when he lost. If he was killed they would burn half of every major city to the ground. It would be a wild blood bath. Millions of angry people with a lot of guns.
There are examples of riots and widespread civil disorder in Merican following various triggers, i.e. MLK's assassination. I suspect Trump has a fair amount of support amongst law enforcement types, who may not be that motivated to assist in putting down riots and civil disorder that they privately support.
Noting that all of the mainstream players are trying to cool things down.
I'd be fascinated in your guys views and mood from the non mainstream corners of the web on the mood in Merica. It doesn't sound like a great place to be. (and if I were there, I'd probably be getting myself an AR15 as well, just in case).
PS, even our own TVNZ has been playing at shooting Trump on live TV, I'm sure if that were in Merica someone would see fit to go shoot one or all of the journos...

Have read some interesting non official discussions about the SS setup . Apparently they rely heavily on the local police department for personnel numbers . The county the rally was held in is quite rural so the local PD weren’t highly trained in counter sniper ops .
Trump has a minimal number of Govt SS assigned to him , he could hire private contractors but apparently he’s not great at paying so that might be an issue .
PA is an open carry state so someone wandering around outside the secure area even with an AR15 is probably not uncommon , proud boy’s and the like often hang around rally’s in full combat kit .
One commentator who allegedly trains snipers claims that the counter snipers area of responsibility ranges out to 500 yards . His theory is the sniper that’s standing is the spotter and was scanning with his optics out to 500 yards and didn’t spot the kid . It wasn’t until he unscoped and looked around that he spotted the kid below his optics field of vision , he quickly corrected his aim and popped off some shots . He surmises the counter snipers were looking further out for a skilled marksman , not a kid 120 yards away and got caught wanting .
My takeaway is just like here in nz if you are the opposition campaigning and want extra security over your Govt alottment you have to pay . Trump has now been assigned extra SS detail and will probably get the full Monty drone cover too , reapers not DJI phantoms at a guess .
Disclaimer : the above was gleaned from social media and shot from the hip .

"Trump's Secret Service detail was given additional assets that are part of the protocol for the presumptive nominee due to his heavy campaigning, which includes additional manpower, counter-sniper, drones and robotic dogs, On Saturday, there were four counter-sniper teams on site, the official said."
So the shooter climbs to a shooting point a mere 130yds from Trump, in full view of people who apparently pointed him out to the secret service agents, and he still has several minutes to set up for the shot?
Any halfwit with a little practice could shoot a 1" target repeatedly at that distance.
Geez they make it fuckin hard to not be a conspiracy theorist these days!

Just an aside I have fired an AR15 on the neighbouring farm . Neighbours bro was visiting for a shooting fest in the quarry with some of his ex military mates . Two of them had swat style ARs with stun grenade launchers and all the clip on crap to clear a building . This was well before the Christchurch mosque shootings and I think the magazines were a restricted size , maybe 7 rounds ?
I’d never shot a round in my life but do a fair bit of air gun hunting , the AR15 is a very easy and comfortable rifle to shoot with . I had no problem shooting fairly tight groups on semi auto at 50 metres with a bipod . I had a go on a shotgun next at skeet’s , scared the shit out of me after two rounds and I went home with a sore shoulder .

Add to that there were no visible comms ear pieces , but again there’s plenty of photoshopping going on

I was lucky enough to get a invite to "Batlow" pistol range(NSW Snowy mountain region) Got to fire a remington .22 then was handed a magnum 44(dirty harry) no you can not hit a thing with one hand as I found out, hold it properly with 2 hands and at 50m no issue hitting the bulls eye, very accurate hand gun and what kick. Love pinkering in back yard with airguns, have 3 here of different brands out in the field no issue at 50m for rabbits

Apparently this lad was kicked off the school shooting team for not being a good enough shot
I think it would be a hard shot to make for a nervous young guy; with glasses, from a new location, at a downward angle with unknown windage, knowing he had been spotted and having to hit his mildly moving target with the first bullet
Apparently trump is saying he is the chosen one, and god deflected the shot for him
