So whatâs all the fuss about the US debt ceiling ? Elon is predicting the house wont pass the vote to raise it in January and the US will default . Is it a big deal if the Republicans win the election and switch to cryptocurrency ? I donât know the first thing about crypto .

so the US election soap opera has just taken another major twist with Biden dropping out of the race www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/07/21/joe-biden-drops-out/74255359007/so who will replace him? I am told by a US mate that the braying jackass, aka Kamala Harris has to stay on the ticket, either as president or vice, so who will be the other Michelle Obama? Shillary "deplorables" Clinton? Gavin "everyone is leaving California" Newsome? A.N Other? keep watching for the next chapter in this soap opera.. I'm going to make a call. Many will say it is misognynistic, but it is based on my understanding and perception of American's and the societal structure and culture. A woman will not win the presidency. A women of colour has even less chance of winning the presidency. Firstly, a woman has never won the presidency, so why do they think one can win now, against a popular candidate, personality based, and Ex President (i.e. he has won before, and has track record - over to you if his track record is good or bad, but it is track record none the less) Then, there is still that whole race based prejudice that pervades almost all parts of Merica. One of the most contentious topics is immigration / illegal immigration, which is all about people of colour. You aren't going to take votes off Trump putting up a candidate who is a woman of colour. They would only get the votes of people that are never ever going to vote for Trump in the first place. Of the four candidates the MSM have shortlisted, you have: Kamala Harris - never done anything - is a woman of colour, and I'm sure got the VP job because of DEI. Gretchen Somelady, Governor of somewhere - polarising nutter Gavin Newsome - the only male and white - Governor of California Michelle Obama - woman of colour - not actually interested in running. So, only one viable candidate, Gavin Newsome, then the story of banning schools from telling parents about their kids - complete showstopper. I reckon they will go for Kamala Harris, cause they are lazy and she already has the VP role. She will get her arse handed to her on a plate, worse than Hilary did. History has already proven, you can't run females against Trump. You need a strong male (not gay, without pronouns) that can attract centrist voters off Trump, not some DEI candidate from the lefty lalaland. Conclusion - there is no hope. Trump has won.

Kamala Harris is currently responsible for border security, that is going really well isn't it - not! Cast your minds back to the 2020 Democrat primaries, she was the first candidate to be dumped because none of the Democrats had any faith in her. Only got the VP slot to tick the DEI box. Buuuuut, according to our US friends, only she can legally stand as the Democrat presidential candidate. Of course the Dems have been known to flout the laws many times so who knows what could happen. The immediate question is will the 25th amendment be invoked by Harris/the silent powers behind the throne to toss Biden from the office now.

going back to the 2020 election, Mike Pence absolutely annihilated Harris in the debate between prospective VP's. Then there is this

I wouldn't blame him if he uses his power of mercy and pardon's his son from whatever felony he got convicted of. Was it lying on a gun license application? What point is it of being President if you can't help you own son out of a hole? I'll bet a good bottle of whiskey Trump will pardon all his people who are currently in prison for covering for him, Steve Bannon et al.

PS, if Harris gets the nomination, I'll stop following the entre US election. It will be a foregone conclusion, with the only question being how much of a majority Trump gets, and how much of a majority his party gets.

Unless Harris hires a glamour running mate - like Obama (Michelle) or Clooney. Which would throw it all up into the air again.

theshovel.com.au/2024/07/17/political-violence-america-guns/OPINION âAs we come to terms with the assassination attempt of Donald Trump this week, we need to remind ourselves that this type of political violence could be replicated in any country that has a per-capita gun ratio of 120 firearms per 100 people.
Yes, it was the US this time around. And the last time around. And the time before that. And, sure, probably the time before that too. But we need to be alert to the fact that this sort of politically-charged shooting could happen literally anywhere that has a pathological obsession with guns to the point where school shootings pass almost without notice, and massacres lead to calls for even more guns.
Donât think that just because fifteen US Presidents and Presidential candidates have faced assassination attempts in America that this is some sort of American phenomenon. Any country that fetishes gun-rights, celebrates open carry laws and idolises members of Government who wear AR-15 pins to work could be subject to this type of thing.
We like to think that a 20-year-old kid climbing onto a roof with a rifle to shoot at a Presidential candidate is some sort of uniquely American thing. But letâs be clear â this could happen in any country that calls for its teachers to be armed, lets its citizens own guns before they can drink, and has a per-capita gun ownership rate eight times that of Australia or twenty-five times that of Englandâ.

My perception of the coverage of Harris in the MSM media is that they are absolutely wetting themselves and beside themselves with delight that they now have a viable candidate for President, at least one that is not clearly unfit for office, as senile Joe is.
What is glaringly missing in any of the opinion pieces in the MSM is any sort of critical analysis as to what is needed to win the election. Or to counter Trumps populist personality politics. Or anything objective at all.
It actually looks like the MSM are fawning over a woman of colour getting the nomination for no other reason than that she is a woman of colour. The entire circus is so disjointed from reality it is difficult to comprehend. Maybe I need to go watch Fox News for a bit of balance?

Her past is quite colourful, in more ways than you might imagine. Twitter can help you with that one. Democrats have a unique interpretation of fit for office. Like you said, policy doesn't seem to come into it either.
