For Fish. SA is partisan, if you mention anything that can be construed as a non Democrat point of view the abuse follows soon after. If you have American friends that support Biden, try have a conversation with them about issues, there is no middle of the road. SA is like that. There are a lot of comments and memes, on X, pointing out the lack of rioting in the US after Trump got shot, comparing it to Democrat supporters in action. Watching America from the outside; I find it very hard to comprehend the state of their politics, the sheer absolute partisan nature of their points of view and the complete lack of bipartisan support for any issue. Check out the votes in congress to see some unbelievable party positions on points of law. If you are not on twitter, X, yet I highly recommend you take a look. Takes awhile to get your news feeds to generate a good balance, but you will be able to get as close to real time world news as is possible without the MSM opinion spin. NZ offers plenty of left and right points of view, lefties are very active on social media here. The US stuff is pretty balanced, stuff tends to be presented and let you make your mind up about it. The MSM stuff is there too, often with comments about how biased it is.

Putting left and right and the presidential candidates aside for a minute , would a republican Govt be a good thing ?
Taking a world view here because that’s what concerns me . If the project 2025 is actually a real document not leftist propaganda , holy shit .
If what trump says about the US leaving NATO and shutting down offshore bases is true , holy shit too . International airspace and seaways will be compromised , the internet is under the water mostly so that will be a target as well . The EU countries won’t be able to mess around in the gulf of Aden if they have a Russian threat on their doorstep so that will affect your Ali express or waveinn purchases and Italian anchor chain getting here on time or at all . Any country with half an airforce and Mal intent could feasibly “air jack” aircraft transiting through or near their countries .
There are multitudes of possible scenarios and I could go on all day , what would happen with the countries close to China and Russia ? Like South Korea and Japan , Taiwan and the Phillipines ? The power house Baltic nations , Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Finland and Poland will be busy alongside the UK , France and possibly Germany . They will have two issues , a tide of refugees and Russian aggression/expansion . Closer to home , who upholds the status quo in the South Pacific and SE Asia if the northern hemisphere Nations that care about peaceful global stability have their hands tied ?
There’s much more at play than just trump kicking wokeness to the curb and banning electric vehicles . This time next year things could be radically different worldwide .
To put it into context for this country , imagine if you can , David Tamihere running for prime minister at the next election . The polls are showing him at 50% , the courts have chucked out his various fraud charges and granted him criminal immunity if he becomes prime minister . On top of that his kids are in line to snag few choice portfolios , he’s threatening to shut down key govt departments and overhaul the banking system in favour of the top 1% . Oh and he will put the labour Govt in jail and makes offhand comments about executing a few of them . Cherry on the top is he just announced Shane jones is running as his deputy this morning 😂

In simple terms, has the Biden Government made the world a better place? Or America for that matter? As they say "I reject the premise of your question" Trump was president, no wars, secure border, economic growth. You are trying to use the Democrats Trump propaganda picture instead of looking at the actuals of the Biden / Democrat regime. Democrats aren't standing on their record for a reason, same as Labour at our last election, neither had a leg to stand on. Trump is in no way perfect but he's a lot more perfect than the Biden Obama Clinton syndicate.

In simple terms No but I’m enjoying the stability at our end of the world right now and hope it continues . My partner and I both also have extended family in the northern hemisphere and don’t want them to come to any harm or be cut off .
And Na I don’t believe the propaganda or buy into partisan politics . The pundits and talking heads on both sides are losing the plot in the US . Add to that regular people are posting doctored images and audio to add confusion . I’ve used talking points above that trump has said himself , unless his rally speeches and interviews have been doctored after the fact ?
And you are right I havent focused on the Biden/obama/clinton regime anymore than I have on the Luxton/key/obama syndicate if there’s such a thing

First you can not put Left V Right aside as that is the very crux, the genesis, of the bullshit that is going on. Intentional division is being driven in by arseholes who know exactly what it will and is causing. I'd need to borrow many hands to add up the number who have openly called for Trump to be silenced and some have actually said out loud 'shoot the cunt'. Those who were saying that only a few days ago are now decrying the violence they themselves were involved in creating. The same applies for all sides, they are all at it to some degree.
That is also being paralleled in NZ with the racist murder all white people party. How long before some kid not quite right in the head decides that scottish woman or the cowboy are right and someone needs to be taken out, I reckon it is bloody close. I also reckon if someone does pull a retard move it will be the catalysis for others to follow.
Then add in the near demigod status many Americans hold their president in. That does cause extreme responses when someone either not quite right or seriously wound up takes it personal.
And the second sentence, while understandable, is moot as the USA is all about USA 1st, 2nd, 3rd and before all others no matter what. They do not give the slightest of slightest fucks about you or I and they have demonstrated that many many times.
We live in strange and dangerous times.

Regardless of your politics you have to admire Trump’s tenacity.
After being treated this way by your country, many others would turn their backs on their homeland or even leave. He keeps going.

A good post on the role of "X" in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Trump c.f the lame stream media sitting on its hand waiting for the "approved" scripted news brownstone.org/articles/during-the-crisis-free-speech-worked-brilliantly/excerpts There is only one major social media platform that is relatively free of censorship. That is X, once known as Twitter, and owned by Elon Musk, who has preached free speech for years and sacrificed billions in advertising dollars in order to protect it. If we don’t have that, he says, we lose freedom itself. He also maintains that it is the best path to finding the truth.
The crisis that broke out after the attempt on Donald Trump’s life put the principle in motion. I was posting regular updates and never censored. I’m not aware of anyone who was. We were getting second-by-second updates in real time. The videos were flying along with every conceivable rumor, many false and then corrected, alongside free speech “spaces” in which everyone was sharing their views.
Meanwhile, on X, the situation was utterly wild. Posts were flying fast and furious. New rumors would circulate (the shooter’s name and affiliations, stories about a second shooting, claims that Trump was hit in the chest, and so on). But shortly after the rumor circulated, so did the debunking. The feature called “Community Notes” kept the faulty news in check, while the truth gradually circulated to the top. This happened on topic after topic. The wildest theories ever were permitted to appear, while others would debunk them with reasoned arguments. The readers could decide for themselves. You could see how the seeming chaos gradually organized itself into communities seeking verification. Posters grew ever more careful about posting claims that could not be verified, or at least explaining what they were.
X was single-handedly holding the whole of the corporate media to account, and reporters and editors very obviously came to depend on their X feeds to figure out what to say next. It was the same with newspapers. When NYT, CNN, WaPo, and so on would make major missteps, posters on X would call them out, the word would reach the editors, and the headline or story would change. In the end, X became the one place where you could find the fullness of truth. All the while, the old-world media was dishing out the most ridiculous headlines one could imagine. For many hours, the New York Times, CNN, Washington Post, and other such venues refused to say it was an assassination attempt on Trump. The headline led people to believe that this was a MAGA rally with some random shooters that got carried away and so Trump had to be ushered out. This really did happen, and readers were outraged.
Remember the first Gulf War, everyone looked to CNN for its ongoing accurate updates of what was happening, now you would not trust the Clinton News Network to accurately tell the date and day of the week

On the basis of that, I might actually sign up to X. I'm finally starting to understand what Elon is up to, and why the 'old world media' spend so much time telling me X is evil.
