I wonder how many Republican voters have read this ? Trump denied having anything to do with it and I believe that . The heritage foundation says they have been perfecting it since the early 1980s , massive props to them for being so patient and selecting a vehicle ? to get it implemented . www.project2025.org/policy/

Putting all the peripheral issues aside, the US election came down to that phrase credited to Bill Clinton "It's the economy, stupid"!
Couple of interesting comments from forums this morning,
I’m just so enjoying CNN right now! This morning they interviewed a Democrat Congress woman who had to admit, “we have to do some soul searching”. The interviewer, Erin Burnett, noted that Harris did worse with women voters than Biden! Who saw that coming? Women were supposed to vote for Kamala because she’s a woman and because abortion! Joy Reid over at MSNBC was also very disappointed with women not voting for a woman candidate –
Apparently the actual women voters didn’t see it that way and instead were concerned about the economy and how to pay for the groceries! Who would have thunk it? 😆
and Three theories on the missing 15 million left votes? Trump (74 million) 2020 Trump (73 million) 2024 Harris (66 million) 2024 Hillary (65 million) 2016 Biden (81 million) 2020 (EXTRA 15 million votes, for you slow ones) -First theory, the left absolutely hates the idea of a female leader. Second theory, Trumps “Operation Warp Speed” killed 15 million liberals with the vax. Third theory, Biden cheated…

Third theory, Biden cheated… I'm fairly sure I said on here some time ago that Merica just isn't ready for a female President, less so for a woman of colour. They keep on twattling on about how it would be history making if Kamala got elected. That is the point, history making. It has never happened before, so why should it happen now? When Biden withdrew, they needed to choose a straight white guy. But they didn't. The rest is history. The margins are so small in these elections, you only need a very small portion of voters that is uncomfortable with a woman president, that it blows the whole election dynamics. AND, that is the sort of shit they never ask in poles...

Don’t count your chickens mate . We could see an influx of American women emigrating to NZ soon . Are those the same ones who said they would leave USA in 2016 if Trump was elected - and didn't People here who believe the slop feed to them by the MSM do not understand the big differences in outlook in the US and particularly the differences between the various states
Good opinion piece here concludes Hanging out with Ardern was one of the dumbest things Kamala Harris ever did. Ardern is Un-American and Harris's failure to recognize how her own fellow citizens bear virtually nothing in common with the likes of Ardern - and actively dislike her type - is proof that Harris was out-of-touch with her own fellow Americans.

We had two American professors stuck at our AirBnB over the first lockdown for 6 weeks male and female colleagues . They were looking at coastal property in Bay of Plenty and Northland , their reason was the trump Administration . I think they chose Bay of Plenty in the end . While Trump was campaigning the first time my parents took in an American psychologist (female) and her pre school son who had just arrived in NZ . She bailed at the prospect of him being elected . Her and her son are now members of our club and she has bought a classic Logan 40ft sloop and is learning to sail . Cantab will probably know more about the boat than me .

Scott Jennings' full speech which stunned CNN panel into silence: Scott Jennings Analysis'This is a mandate. He's won the national popular vote for the Republicans for the first time since 2004. This is a big deal. 'This isn't backing into the office. This is a mandate to do what you said you were going to do: get the economy working again for regular working-class Americans, fix immigration, try to get crime under control, try to reduce the chaos in the world. 'This is a mandate from the American people to do that. I'm interpreting the results tonight as revenge of just the regular old working-class American, the anonymous American who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to. 'They're not garbage, they're not Nazis. They're just regular people who get up and go to work every day and are trying to make a better life for their kids, and they feel like they have been told to just shut up when they have complained about the things that are hurting them in their own lives. 'I also feel like this electoin is something of an indictment on the political information complex. The story that was portrayed was not true. 'We were told Puerto Rico was going to change the elections; Liz Cheney; Nikki Haley voters; women lying to their husbands. Before that, it was Tim Walz and the camo hats. 'Night after night after night, we were told all these things and gimmicks were going to somehow push Harris over the line. 'And we were just ignoring the fundamentals: inflation, people feeling like they were barely able to tread water at best. That was the fundamentals of the election. 'I think both parties should always look at the results of an election and figure out what went right and what went wrong. 'But for all of us who cover elections, we have to figure out how to understand, talk to and listen to the half of the country that rose up tonight and said: We've had enough.'

a pretty reasonable analysis from David Farrar, who normally suffers badly from TDS on voting distribution from exit polls in 10 states Trump got 21% of the black men vote Trump won Latino men by 55% to 43% Trump won men under 30 by 49% to 47% Trump won never attended college by 63% to 35% Harris won post-graduate degree holders by 59% to 38% Harris won those earning (family income) over $200k by 51% to 45% Trump won those earning $30k to $50k by 53% to 45% Trump won veterans 65% to 34% Trump won voters who said the economy, immigration of foreign policy was the most important issue Harris won voters who said abortion or democracy was the most important issue While Harris won by 87% to 10% those said abortion should be legal in all cases, it was 495 each for those said it should be legal in most cases.
with changes from 2016 and 2020 Women went +13% for Clinton and only +8% for Harris – so Trump did relatively better with women Men went +11% for Trump in 2016 and +13% in 2020 Clinton won Latino men by +31% and in 2024 Trump won by +12% – a massive massive change Latino women went from +44% Clinton in 2016 to +22% Harris in 2024 – also a big swing Voters of colour with no degree went from +56% Clinton to +30% Harris Under 30s went from +19% Clinton to +11% Harris Those who think abortion should be legal in most (not all) cases went from +38% for Biden in 2020 to tied in 2024
Of special note is the Hispanic/Latino vote moving to Trump.
Amongst other things just shows how out of touch the dopeycrats are trying to make abortion a major issue. The Supreme Court in flipping Roe vs Wade said it was a state matter, that's all.

harris is centre-left or far-left (by usa standards)trump is centre-right or far-right (by usa standards)you'd think the democrats would get the hint that the electorate, as part of a global swing, had announced that they had chosen the success of 'incremental conservatism' over the repeated failures of 'revolutionary-leftism' but already there are those on the left saying harris lost because she wasn't revolutionary-left enough! "It’s entirely possible the Democrats will take the wrong lesson out of this campaign. There are recriminations already coming from the right of the party that Harris had moved too far to the left and should have spent more time trying to appeal to Republican voters in states like Pennsylvania.
But I think you could make the opposite argument
......
They didn’t listen to what the base was telling them.
The Democrats need to look now at offering real structural economic change that addresses inequality and a reassessment of the US role in the world.eveningreport.nz/2024/11/07/why-did-white-women-and-the-democratic-base-abandon-kamala-harris-my-view-from-the-campaign-trail-243136/add this loss for the progressives to nz labour's loss and oz + uk labours' dire performance

I disagree. I think election results all around the world show that most countries are ready for leaders of different gender or race to the past. It was just another case of the ‘silent majority’ of middle-classes voting with their feet. All around the world - if you don’t appeal to the middle classes - you’re toast. Nothing to do with gender.
